What you get for free

Every feature of the web compressor is included. Nothing is locked behind a sign-in.

Runs on your device

A WebAssembly engine compresses your images inside the browser tab. Files are never sent to FormShrink's servers or anyone else's.

Six image formats

Compress JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and TIFF files. In Advanced mode you can also convert them to a different output format.

10 images per batch, 50MB each

Add up to 10 files at once, then start another batch when you're done. There's no daily cap.

Smart and Advanced modes

Smart mode picks the output format and quality from a single slider. Advanced mode adds quality presets, format conversion and resizing by maximum width and height.

Compress to a size in KB

Need a photo under 100KB for a form? Set a target size for JPEG, PNG or WebP output. If a very large image can't get that small, the tool tells you.

EXIF and GPS data removed

Camera details and GPS location are stripped from compressed images, so you can share photos without giving away where they were taken.

Questions about cost and limits

Is FormShrink really free?

Yes. You can use the image compressor without an account, a credit card or a trial period, and your compressed images carry no watermark. Because compression happens on your own device, we don't pay for server processing on every image you shrink.

Are there any limits?

Each batch holds up to 10 images of up to 50MB each, and there's no daily limit. Speed depends on your device, so very large images take longer on older phones. Target-size compression can't always reach a very small size for a huge image; when that happens the tool tells you, and resizing the image or choosing a larger target usually solves it.

Do you upload or keep my images?

No. Images are processed in your browser and never leave your device, so there's nothing on our servers to store or delete. Compressed files are saved straight to your downloads.

Do I need to sign up?

No. Every compression feature works without signing in.

What's coming next?

A browser extension that compresses images as you upload them, and a developer API. Neither is available yet. We'll share the details when they launch.

Ready to shrink your images?

Open the compressor, drop in up to 10 images and download smaller files. It's free, and nothing gets uploaded.
