Compress a Video to 25MB

Gmail and Yahoo Mail let you attach up to 25MB per email, and many upload forms use the same limit. FormShrink compresses your video to 25MB or less as an MP4 that opens on any phone or computer, lowering the resolution only if the length requires it.

The video is compressed in your browser and never uploaded. Free, no sign-up, no watermark.

This page presets a 25MB target. For Outlook.com or iCloud Mail choose 20MB, and if your email app still refuses the file, try 20MB to leave some room.

Where 25MB limits come from

Gmail and Yahoo Mail

Both allow 25MB of attachments per message. Gmail turns anything bigger into a Google Drive link, which some recipients can't or won't open.

Outlook.com and iCloud Mail

These allow about 20MB per message, so choose the 20MB target instead.

Upload forms

Application portals, school systems and support sites often accept files up to 25MB. A compressed MP4 fits and plays without special software.

Getting a good-looking video in 25MB

  • As a rough guide, 25MB holds about 45 seconds of 1080p or 2 minutes of 720p video. Longer videos are scaled down further to fit.
  • Attach one video per email. The 25MB limit covers everything attached to the message, so two videos need to share it.
  • If the video needs to stay sharp and long, send a link from a cloud drive instead, and use compression for clips that should arrive as an attachment.
  • Trim the parts nobody needs before compressing. Every second you cut leaves more quality for the rest.

Questions about compressing video to 25MB

Why does my email app still say the file is too large?

Email attachments are encoded before sending, which makes them bigger than the file on your disk, and some services count that encoded size. If a 25MB video is refused, compress it to 20MB and try again.

Will the video be exactly 25MB?

It will be 25MB or less, usually somewhat under. FormShrink aims below the limit and checks the result, and compresses again if a file comes out too big.

Can I compress a long video to 25MB?

Up to a point. A few minutes fits at reduced resolution, but a 20-minute video would look very blurry in 25MB. If the tool says the target is too small, trim the video or share it through a cloud link.

Will the recipient be able to play it?

Yes. The output is an MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio, which plays on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android without extra apps.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. FormShrink compresses the video inside your browser. It only leaves your device when you attach it to your email.
